About the Examination

We are excited to announce the opening of registrations for the Spelling Bee 2025, back for its second consecutive year!

The festival provides young performers with an opportunity to display their talents in a variety of ways and develop their speaking skills, confidence, teamwork, creative flexibility and communication skills. Students will learn how to write and deliver captivating speeches with a unique and unlimited selection of topics, encouraging our students to explore and speak on content that they are passionate about.

Structure of the Competition

This thrilling competition features two stages: the preliminary rounds and the finals. This dual-phase event offers a comprehensive assessment of participants’ abilities, while celebrating the beauty and diversity of the English language, as well as the dedication of exceptional young spellers across the country.

Preliminary rounds

Participants are evaluated on their spelling abilities and skills, with recognition awarded based on performance. These rounds will take place in the Nugegoda, Wattala, Panadura, Kurunegala and Kandy centers.

Finals

The finals take the competition to the next level, gathering the top spellers from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kurunegala and Kandy districts to compete for the coveted title of Spelling Bee Champion. The finals will be held exclusively in Colombo.

Grades 4-5
Grades 6-7
Grades 8-9

Participation rewards

All participants in the preliminary rounds will receive a Badge of Participation, Certificate, and a Detailed Evaluation Report.

Finalists

The top spellers from all age groups will advance to the final rounds.

Awards for winners

The Champion and First Runner-Up from each grade category will receive a cash prize, trophy, Medal of Excellence, Certificate, and a Detailed Evaluation Report.

School appreciation

As a special token of appreciation, the champion's school will receive a cash prize if the participant was registered through the school. Join us for this exciting journey of spelling mastery and celebrate the accomplishments of young talents from across the region!
